Staying With Us
To ensure that your stay is as enjoyable as possible, we kindly ask you to follow these simple guidelines
Dogs
We welcome well-behaved pets with responsible owners but do ask that owners take particular care to ensure the cottage and its surroundings are left clean and undamaged at the end of their stay. There is a great place for dog-walking just up the lane at Stock Ghyll Waterfalls or at Rothay Park near Zefferellis. Please note that a pet counts as a “person” when deciding on the maximum occupancy. We know this might sound a bit strange but in our experience it is a fair and reasonable way to avoid over use and excessive wear and tear.
Dogs should never be left unattended in the cottage at any time unless a dog cage is used. Dogs should not be allowed upstairs or on the sofa at any time. A stairgate is available to prevent dogs going upstairs if needed. We can provide a dog cage on request (either a large one for Labrador sized dogs or a small one for terrier sized dogs) and thoroughly recommend these.
Linens and Cleaning
Unless other arrangements have been made, the cottage should be available from 3:00 pm on the day of your arrival and vacated by 10.00 am on the day of your departure to allow the cleaners to start work.
Bed linen and towels are supplied in each cottage and the beds are made up for your arrival.
We ask you to leave the house reasonably clean and tidy on departure, a vacuum cleaner and a good supply of cleaning materials are supplied.
Stock Ghyll River
The cottages are situated overlooking Stock Ghyll which is a delightful small river. Visitors have private access to the river bank via a set of gated stairs to the side of Stock Ghyll Barn. Views over the river, with its abundant wildlife can be enjoyed from the glass walled balconies at the rear of each cottage.
Shopping
Ambleside is world famous for its outdoor clothing & equipment shops, however there are also some good food shops including a Tesco which is open from 7am to 11pm 7 days a week. There are some great bakeries (such as The Apple Pie) and a new Deli has just opened. All the major supermarket chains will deliver to the Rookery Cottages and many guests arrange a delivery on the day they arrive. There is a large fridge freezer and plenty of cupboard space in each kitchen.
Adventures in the Lake District
The Lake District is rightly world famous for its natural beauty and accessibility. We can help you choose the best walks and adventures to suit your experience, taste and the weather conditions. There are guide books and maps in each cottage to help you but ring us any time to discuss ideas if you like.
Children
We want your children to enjoy their hioliday as much as you do. We provide a high chair, travel cot, push chair, kids books, toys, dvd's and stair gates are available for the top and bottom of the stairs
Consumables
We provide most of the basic consumables you might need such as loo roll, kitchen roll, salt, sugar, tea, coffee, washing up liquid, dish washer tablets, laundry powder, cleaning materials and tea towels.
